Notes for the Bride

Everyone seals a short note for the bride. It opens the next time this group plays — after the wedding, say.

What it feels like

Before the day itself, when there'll be no time to say anything properly, everyone here writes the bride a few lines. And seals them. Here's what you do. Take a private turn each and write a short note to everyone here. The notes are sealed in the Almanac. The next time you meet, they're opened, and before anyone owns up, the room guesses who wrote each one. Every right guess scores two points. So write something true, and maybe a little hard to trace.

How to play

  1. Take a private turn each and write a short note to this group.
  2. The notes are sealed in the Almanac.
  3. They open the next time you meet, and the room guesses who wrote each one.

Scoring: When they open, 2 points for each right guess.

You'll get prompts like

  • “Write a note for the bride, to be opened next time we play”
  • “Write what you hope the bride remembers on a hard day, to be opened next time we play”

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
