Icebreakers · Words & quick thinking
Snap Answer
Two of you, two categories. Race to name something from the other person's card — if your brain lets you.

- ~10 min
- 3–10 people
- One device, or phones
- Free
- Teens and up
What it feels like
It looks easy. Name something from the other person's category. A fruit. A band. A river. But the moment it's your turn, your brain goes completely blank. Ready? Snap!
How to play
- Each round two of you get a category card. Race to say an example of the OTHER person's category.
- First to shout a real example wins the card. Freeze up and it's gone.
- Every so often, a free-for-all: one category, everyone races.
- The room is the referee — tap whoever won.
Scoring: 1 point for every face-off or free-for-all you win.
You'll get prompts like
- “A fruit”
- “A vegetable”
Playing safely
Play safe: stay in your seat or spot and mime in place — no real climbing, lifting or wrestling. Keep voices at a comfortable volume. No props that are sharp, hot, heavy or breakable.
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
