A new hire's first week is mostly logins and reading. This is the other half: five short games, one a day, where they learn who the team is. Each runs on one screen in a room and takes fifteen to twenty-five minutes.
- 5 days, 1 game a day
- 15 to 25 minutes each
- 3–10 people a screen
- $39 once
- Nothing to install
The week
- Day 1: First Impressions
One true thing about each teammate's working life, hidden among fakes the rest of the team invents. The new hire learns a real thing about everyone in twenty minutes, and nobody has to give a speech. - Day 2: Résumé Bluff: Team Edition
Two true lines from your working life and one that never happened. Made for teams with new joiners: everyone learns two true things about everyone. - Day 3: Ballpark: Team Numbers
How many tabs does the person next to you have open? A fifteen-minute game of guesses that gets the quiet people talking. - Day 4: Codebreak: Departments
Two mixed teams and four secret words each, all from working life. Mix the teams across departments on purpose, so the new hire meets people outside their own. - Day 5: Quiet Kudos, then Note to Next Quarter
Anonymous thanks to end the week, then a short sealed note to the team that opens the next time you play. The new hire's first note is waiting at their first offsite.
How to run it
- Put one screen where everyone can see it.
People can join on their phones from the room code, or you can read the screen out loud. - Say this at the start: anything can be passed.
Nobody, least of all the new person, has to answer anything they'd rather not. - More than ten people? Split into tables of five to eight.
Open the team's link on one device per table. - You don't need to be a facilitator.
The pack comes with a run-sheet, and the same ten games cover a half-day or full-day offsite later.
Try something free first
The Work life quiz takes two minutes against the computer, with no sign-up. If the team likes that, the week above is the next step. The full pack is on the Team Offsite page.
