What it feels like

From apple pie to zucchini bread, the whole feast is in the alphabet somewhere. Tonight, you get one letter, and have to make a meal of it. Here's how it works. In a private turn, you get one letter and six categories, and you write an answer to each that starts with that letter. The answers come up one category at a time, and anything the room won't accept gets tapped and struck. Every answer that starts with the letter and that nobody else wrote scores one point. If you're stuck, type a dash, because a blank scores nothing.

How to play

  1. Take a private turn each: one letter, six categories. Write an answer to each that starts with the letter.
  2. The answers come up one category at a time.
  3. Anything the room won't accept, tap to strike it.
  4. Only answers nobody else wrote score — so dodge the obvious ones.

Scoring: 1 point for every answer that starts with the letter and that nobody else wrote. Stuck? Type a dash — a blank scores nothing.

You'll get prompts like

  • “A dish on the table”
  • “Something you're thankful for”

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
