Blind Rank

Five things arrive one at a time. Rank each from 1 to 5 before you know what's next — no moving it afterwards. The room calls every slot first.

What it feels like

Welcome to the ranking where you cannot see what's coming next! Here's how it works. First, everyone secretly adds one thing to each ranker's category. Then the things arrive, one at a time. The ranker puts each one in a slot from one, the best, to five, the worst... and once it's in, it stays. No moving, no regrets. Well, plenty of regrets. Before each one is placed, the rest of you call the slot you think it'll get. Every slot you call is a point. And if nobody calls it, the ranker takes the point.

How to play

  1. In a private turn, add one thing to each ranker's category: a breakfast, a chore, an excuse for being late.
  2. Each round, the things arrive one at a time. The ranker puts each in a slot from 1 (best) to 5 without knowing what's coming next, and can't move it afterwards.
  3. Before each one is placed, everyone else calls the slot they think it'll get.

Scoring: 1 point for every slot you call. If nobody calls it, the ranker scores 1. The last thing has only one slot left, so nobody calls that one.

You'll get prompts like

  • “Breakfasts”
  • “Household chores”

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
