What it feels like
Two of you. One sock. And a caller who is about to say some things that are true, and some things that are absolutely not. Here's how it works. First, everyone secretly writes one true thing about themselves, and one made-up thing. Then two of you sit face to face with something soft between you. The caller reads the statements, one at a time. Grab the moment you hear a true one. Grab on the truth, that's two points. Grab on a made-up one, and your opponent gets a point. Hands on your knees!
How to play
- In a private turn, write one true thing about yourself and one made-up thing, on the same subject. Make the made-up one believable.
- Each round, two of you sit facing each other with something soft between you. A caller reads statements about the others off the screen.
- Grab it the moment you hear one you think is true.
Scoring: 2 points for grabbing on a true one. Grab on a made-up one and your opponent scores 1. If a true one goes by with nobody grabbing, the person it's about scores 1.
You'll get prompts like
- “food”
- “school”
Playing safely
Use something soft: a sock, a glove, a cushion. Nothing hard, sharp or breakable. Stay sitting or kneeling, and grab the thing, not each other.
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
