What it feels like
The lanterns are out, and something is walking the lanes tonight. A wolf hides among the villagers. The lamplighter peeks behind one door. And when dawn breaks, someone has a lot of explaining to do.
How to play
- Pass the device round in secret. Each of you finds out who you are: a villager, the Lamplighter, or a Wolf.
- The Lamplighter looks behind one door and learns if a Wolf is there. The Wolves learn who each other are.
- Then morning: a few minutes to talk. Everyone says they're a villager — someone is lying.
- Vote one person out. Catch a Wolf and the village wins. Miss, and the Wolves do.
Scoring: 3 points to everyone on the winning side. The Lamplighter scores 1 more when the village wins.
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
