What it feels like

The meal's over, the plates are stacked, and there's just enough energy left for one thing: a little friendly competition. Here's how it works. In a private turn, you each get two prompts and write one answer to each. Go for the answer that makes the room laugh. Every prompt went to exactly two of you, so their answers face off on screen with no names. Everyone else votes for the one they like best, and then the names come out. Every vote you get is a point. Win every single vote in a face-off, and that clean sweep earns you two more.

How to play

  1. Take a private turn each: two prompts, one answer to each. Go for the answer that makes the room laugh.
  2. Every prompt went to exactly two of you. Their answers face off on screen, with no names.
  3. Everyone else votes for the one they like best — on phones, or hands up.
  4. Then the names come out.

Scoring: 1 point for every vote. Win every vote in a face-off and it's a clean sweep: 2 more.

You'll get prompts like

  • “The worst thing to bring to Thanksgiving”
  • “A terrible new pie flavour”

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
