What it feels like
It's New Year's Eve at Grandma Rose's house. The family counts down by the old clock in the hall, and cheers, and kisses. And a little while later... the church bells begin to ring. Here's how it works. The story has four parts, and a different person reads each one aloud. Between parts, the screen gives you something to argue about. At the end, you each accuse in private: who moved midnight, and by how much. Then the solution is read out. Name who moved it for three points, and say by how much for two.
How to play
- The story comes in four parts. Each is read out loud by someone different — everyone else just listens.
- Between parts, the screen gives the table something to argue about. Every clue you need is in the story.
- At the end, everyone accuses in private: who moved midnight, and by how much.
- Then the solution is read out — and one last question with no right answer, for the whole table to argue about.
Scoring: 3 points for naming who moved midnight, 2 for saying by how much. Then the table decides: did it count?
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
