What it feels like

Five readers. One sitting room. A great deal of pie. And upstairs, behind glass, the most precious book in the house, guarded by one small, grumpy dog who lets almost no one pass. Tonight, someone slips up those stairs. Listen closely. Sometimes the loudest clue is the sound that never came.

How to play

  1. The story comes in four parts. Each is read out loud by someone different — everyone else just listens.
  2. Between parts, the screen gives the table something to argue about. Every clue you need is in the story.
  3. At the end, everyone accuses in private: who took the book, and where it is now.
  4. Then the solution is read out, with every clue and where it was hiding.

Scoring: 3 points for naming who took it, 2 for saying where the book is now.

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
