What it feels like
June is seventy today, and thirty people are hiding in her daughter's living room. The family's present is in a small blue box in the hall: her late husband's watch, ticking again after twenty years. By seven o'clock... the box is empty. Here's how it works. The story has four parts, and a different person reads each one aloud. Between parts, the screen gives you something to argue about. At the end, you each accuse in private: who took the watch, and where it is now. Then the solution is read out. Name who took it for three points, and say where the watch is now for two.
How to play
- The story comes in four parts. Each is read out loud by someone different — everyone else just listens.
- Between parts, the screen gives the table something to argue about. Every clue you need is in the story.
- At the end, everyone accuses in private: who took the watch, and where it is now.
- Then the solution is read out — and one last question with no right answer, for the whole table to argue about.
Scoring: 3 points for naming who took it, 2 for saying where the watch is now. Then the table decides: was it his to take?
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
