Wait For It
Tell a true story and stop right before the ending. The room guesses what happened. If nobody sees it coming, you win.

- ~20 min
- 3–10 people
- One device, or phones
- Free
- All ages
What it feels like
Gather round. Every story tonight stops just before the good part. The teller takes you right to the edge... and then waits. Your job is to guess what happened next. Get it right and you score. But if nobody sees the ending coming... the teller wins.
How to play
- A few of you are the tellers. In a private turn, each teller gets a story prompt — like “a time a plan went completely sideways” — picks a true story and writes its real ending in one line.
- On your round, tell the story out loud and stop right before the ending: “…and then —”.
- Everyone else says what they think happened. Then the teller reveals the ending.
Scoring: 2 points for everyone the teller says was close. If nobody saw it coming, the teller scores 3.
You'll get prompts like
- “A time a plan went completely sideways”
- “The worst holiday disaster you survived”
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
