The Year Awards
Secret votes for the titles of the year. Guess who the room picked before the reveal.
- ~12 min
- 3–10 people
- One device, or phones
- In the Countdown pack
- Ages 10+
What it feels like
The year is nearly over, and it's time to hand out its honours. No ceremony, no speeches. Just a secret vote. Here's how it works. In a private turn, you vote for someone in the room on each question. Before the reveal, say out loud who you think got the most votes. Then the votes are revealed, but only the totals show, so nobody ever knows who voted for whom. Calling the winner correctly scores two points.
How to play
- Take a private turn each and vote for someone in the room on each question.
- Before the reveal, say out loud who you think got the most votes.
- Reveal the votes.
Scoring: 2 points for calling the winner. Votes stay anonymous: only the totals show.
You'll get prompts like
- “Had the best year”
- “Most changed since last New Year”
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
