Codebreak
Two teams, four secret words each. Clue your code for your team — without letting the other team crack it.

- ~25 min
- 4–10 people
- One device, or phones
- Free
- Teens and up
What it feels like
Two teams. Four secret words each. One of you gives the clues for a secret code, while the other team listens to every word, trying to crack it. Say enough for your team. Not a word more.
How to play
- Two teams. Each team secretly sees its own four words, numbered 1 to 4. They stay put all game.
- On your turn, you get a secret code like 3-1-4, and write one clue for each of those words, in that order.
- The other team tries to intercept first, using every clue you've given so far. Then your own team decodes.
- Clue too clearly and the other team reads you. Too cleverly and your own team can't.
Scoring: Your team decodes its own code: 1 point each. Intercept the other team's code: 2 points each. Three turns per team.
What you need
4 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
