What it feels like

Every family has someone who remembers how it really happened. Tonight, they get the chair. And then, so does everyone else. Here's how it works. One person takes the floor at a time and answers three questions out loud. You can use the sixty-second timer if you like, and nobody has to write anything down. If someone says a line worth remembering, keep it in the Almanac. There are no scores tonight. It's just the room, listening.

How to play

  1. One person takes the floor at a time and answers out loud.
  2. Use the 60-second timer if you like. Nobody has to write anything.
  3. Keep any line worth remembering in the Almanac.

Scoring: No scores. Just the room, listening.

You'll get prompts like

  • “What's the earliest thing you remember?”
  • “What was the house you grew up in like?”

What you need

3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
