What it feels like
Welcome to the Showdown! Build a fighter from your cards: a grandmother with a jetpack, a shark in a tuxedo. Then argue, loudly and with total confidence, why yours would win.
How to play
- Take a private turn each: you're dealt three fighters and three powers. Put one of each together.
- Fighters meet in pairs, and each gets a surprise extra from the deck, in front of everyone.
- The two of you argue why yours would win. Thirty seconds each, then back-and-forth.
- Everyone else votes for the winner — on phones, or hands up.
Scoring: 1 point for every vote your fighter wins. Win every vote in a bout: 1 more.
Playing safely
Play safe: stay in your seat or spot and mime in place — no real climbing, lifting or wrestling. Keep voices at a comfortable volume. No props that are sharp, hot, heavy or breakable.
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
