What it feels like
Every birthday deserves a speech. This one is written by the whole room, a line at a time, and nobody knows how it ends. Here's how it works. The first person gets the opening line and writes the next one. Each person after that sees only the line before theirs, then adds their own. At the end, read the whole story aloud, from top to bottom, and hear what you made together. Nobody keeps score. The story is the prize, and you can seal the best lines.
How to play
- The first person gets the opening line and writes the next one.
- Each person sees only the line before theirs, then adds their own.
- At the end, read the whole legend aloud, top to bottom.
Scoring: No points. The story is the prize, and you can seal the best lines.
You'll get prompts like
- “Begin a birthday speech: “I've known them longer than anyone here, and…””
- “Begin the story of the best birthday party ever thrown”
What you need
3 to 10 people and one phone, tablet or laptop to pass around — or everyone on their own phone in a room. Nothing to download, no accounts. The best lines can be sealed into your group's Almanac and come back in later games.
